Barack 'Chimp' Obama

This passed Wednesday (February 18th, 2009, the New York Post issued a drawing from cartoonist Sean Delonas. In it, there were 2 police officers holding guns looking over a dead and bleeding chimpanzee...the same chimpanzee "Travis" that attacked a woman in Stamford, Connecticut. The comic read "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." An email to Delonas and a call to the New York Post went unreturned.

Some believe that the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. The Post's Editor-in-Chief insists his cartoonist was simply mocking the authors of the fiscal stimulus Bill as no better than a team of trained monkeys. Others believe that it is referencing the President as a rapid chimpanzee and the fact that it is shot and dead, refers to his assasination..

Hmm, now I don't know what you guys are thinking but no matter how you look at it, it's still racists nonetheless. There's just no getting around it. When Al Sharpton is involved and you have the public picketing your paper, you know you fucked up. The public is in such uproar Sean Delonas better make sure he doesn't end up like our furry friend Travis.

I remember voting for Obama here at Purchase during voting week. I felt like i was apart of something special; history in the making. Obviously, that special feeling wasn't shared by everyone. It's sad to say but there was even a big racist issue here at Purchase a few years back..(sorry no sugar-coating for incoming students). I mean lets be honest, as liberal as this school is there is definitely still some prejudice and racist issues the go on. I wonder if prejudice will ever subside, doubt it though.

I feel really upset for what was published this passed Wednesday, I mean I believe for what the President stands for, he's a total 360 from Bush, and on top of that it has said that he has "Swagger"..what chimp do you know is as cool?

Charles Hamilton vs. Soulja Boy (Tellem)

Tell me, who hasn't heard of Soulja Boy? Granted his music is NOT the greatest...but it sells and nowadays that's basically all that matters in the industry. He gets the interests of young teenagers but isn't too popular around the 80's babies generation. Personally I can't just have Soulja Boy playing in my ipod...not even to work out to!

Charles Hamilton, a fresh new artist was just recently signed to Interscope (same label as Soulja Boy). Hamilton has performed here @ Purchase College last year during a Poetry Slam in the Stood. Back then he was just an upcoming artist who seemed cocky and short, as sounded kind've like Lil Wayne. He has a new single out called "Brooklyn Girls." I personally enjoy this record and have bumped this in my ipod on more than one occassion.

Recently Soulja Boy and Charles Hamilton have gotten into a dispute over who is better than the other in the industry. Soulja Boy feels its him because he has more record sales, granted he's been in the industry longer. But he also makes moves as if he's Jay-Z! Soulja Boy, please pump your brakes!! You have to earn respect to get it and Supermaning and Yah-ing people out of your face isn't going to work. He also knocks Hamilton for wearing the color pink! Hamilton's camp is called the "Pink Lava Lamp" I mean, I don't understand it either.

Well these 2 rappers have been going on with the beef for a while now. One knocks the other for wearing pink and one knocks the other for wearing T-shirts down to his ankles. It's the battle of being fashionably loud or fashionably late!

Chris Browned!

Now I know everyone has heard about the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident: Love in Trouble. It's the punch/bite mark heard 'round the world. Chris Brown who turned himself in has been released on 50,000 bail. Yet, he has probably sufficed more than that in royalties, seeing how many radio stations have stopped playing his music. But he's not running the downhill race alone, because of Rihanna's injuries, she has cancelled many shows and appearances..which isn't looking too good for her public image (go figure).

What I wonder is, if 2 famous, young, talented artists such as Chris Brown and Rihanna can get into recent invents that have transpired, then who is suffering domestic abuse here at Purchase College? Everywhere I turn someone is in a relationship, including myself. I know not every relationship is picture perfect and statistics state that 1 of 4 relationships suffer from domestic abuse.

If anyone is suffering from a abusive relationship and is seeking help, they should contact the Counseling Center in the basement of Humanities. All meetings are confidential! Please you do not want to be walking around knowing you became a statistic or "CHRIS BROWNED!"
